EVERYTHING YOU
NEED TO GET STARTED WITH
CONTACTS

Contrary to popular belief, your prescription for contacts is not the same as for glasses.
Yes, we base your contact prescription on your measurement for glasses, but they aren't always the same. The difference is because the contact lens sits directly on your eye, so optically, it might need to be a different strength than your glasses. No worries though, our qualified eye doctors can do this calculation then verify your eyesight using samples of the new lenses.

Under the proper care from a qualified optometrist, a person can successfully and safely wear contacts for their entire life! Contact lenses can even do more than correct the vision without glasses. Kids can use them to keep their glasses prescription from getting stronger. There are also contact lenses that we use to treat medical conditions like keratoconus or dry eye syndrome. At The Eye Studio YXE, we are set up to help you have clear and comfortable vision with all types of contacts.
CONTACTS FOR EVERY BUDGET
If we had it our way, everybody would wear daily disposable contacts. But, sometimes, a person's budget, prescription, or reasons why they want contacts are more suitable for other types of lenses. We're here to help you navigate all the options and set you up with the best possible advice based on what you want and need. Get in touch with us to book a contact lens fitting.

Materials matter when it comes to contacts. Every different lens brand is made from a different material. The materials dictate cost, wearing time, comfort, fit, and replacement schedule. We give samples for you to try, so you can make sure you're happy with the lenses before committing to ordering a supply.

SPECIALTY CONTACT LENSES
At The Eye Studio YXE, we also fit specialty contact lenses. These are special contact lenses that do more than correct your prescription. With nearsighted children, we use contact lenses to prevent their glasses from getting worse. Myopia control contacts have health Canada and FDA approval for use in kids for this purpose.
We also use lenses to correct the eyesight for people with distorted vision in glasses or problems with the condition of the surface of their eyes. "Hard contacts" (a.k.a rigid gas permeable or RGP) are an excellent option for people with very high prescriptions, irregular corneas due to keratoconus or corneal transplants, or even severe cases of dry eye syndrome. If you're familiar with hard contacts, we like to point out that, with today's technology, hard lenses are much different than in the 1980s and 1990s. Back in the day, hard contacts were quite uncomfortable and hardly worth the hassle. Improvements in manufacturing technology have given us the ability to provide far more comfortable and breathable rigid lenses. Specialty contact lenses depend a lot on the individual, so if you're interested and hoping to find out more, let us know!
